There are many more animals on the street than homes, so please make sure to spay and neuter your pets! Spayed and neutered pets also tend to live longer and happier lives.
Fostering is taking care of animal temporarily, like a puppy or kitten, until it finds a permanent home, and saves many animal lives. All expenses are paid by the entity you are fostering for.
Microchipping is a painless procedure where a small microchip is injected underneath the skin. The animal cannot feel this, and the microchip never gets lost or misplaced. If an animal ever gets lost and then found, they are scanned for a microchip, which tells who and where the owner is located.

NKLA (No-Kill Los Angeles) is an initiative led by Best Friends Animal Society that brings together passionate individuals, city shelters and an entire coalition of animal welfare organizations to end the killing of dogs and cats in shelters throughout Los Angeles. Now, Los Angeles, the nation’s second largest city, is just inches away from achieving no-kill. Since NKLA launched, the City of Los Angeles’ total save rate increased from 57.7% in 2011 to 85.96% in 2017.
