Rules and Finance Committee Meetings Rescheduled

The regular Panorama City Neighborhood Council Rules committee and Finance committee meetings that were scheduled for Thursday, February 16, are CANCELED.

Both Rules and Finance are RESCHEDULED as special meetings on MONDAY, February 20.  The Public Safety committee will also meet on February 20, as scheduled.  All three meetings will be held at the PCNC office.

PCNC Board Special Holiday Meeting

PCNC BOARD MEETS THURSDAY — HOLIDAY POTLUCK

The Panorama City Neighborhood Council Board of Directors will meet Thursday evening at Mission Community Hospital.

December’s meeting is a special date (the THIRD Thursday of the month) because of the holidays.  In January, meetings return to the regular FOURTH Thursday date.

The agenda includes proposed funding allocations for the fourth annual Panorama City Health and Safety Fair, planned for February 26, for co-sponsorship with the National Association of Latino Elected Officials (NALEO) of a citizenship workshop at Panorama High School on February 11, and for support of the annual women’s college day for local youth, to be held at California State University Northridge on February 12 by the Lambda Theta Nu Latina sorority.

The Finance committee has recommended that draft budgets be submitted with all funding requests that are presented to the Board.

The Board will consider the recommendation of the City Life committee that the Board establish a policy that all Board members, Alternates and the Youth Representative will be expected to attend each quarter two council events (in addition to Board meetings) and one community event.

Certificates of recognition will be presented to two Panorama City businesses and one individual, as recommended by the Commerce committee and approved by the Board.  Numerous certificates of appreciation will also be presented to recognize business support of neighborhood council programs and community events.

Also on the agenda is the Rules committee recommendation that the council bylaws be reorganized to match the newly-required standard Table of Contents, without substantial revisions to the existing bylaws provisions. (The wording in the agenda for this item may not be clear.)

Panorama City Neighborhood Council Special Meeting August 18 at 7pm

The regular meeting date and location for the Panorama City Neighborhood Council has been preempted by a special hearing. As a result, Board Chair Jose Sandoval has called a special meeting of the Board for this Wednesday, August 18, 2010, at *7:00* p.m., at the regular Mission Community Hospital location. This will replace the council’s regular meeting for August.

The agenda includes action items regarding the proposed sale of Mission Community Hospital to a for-profit operator, a vote on a proposed bylaws amendment to extend the council’s western boundary south of Roscoe from Sepulveda to the 405 Freeway, proposals to authorize up to $1000 for school supplies for local children and $1000 for a Service Providers Gang Summit in October, proposals for smaller allocations for other projects, plus budget and other operations items. A proposed amendment to the bylaws section on reconsideration will also be introduced, for which the required 30-day public outreach
period will commence.

California Attorney General’s Hearing on the Proposed Sale of Mission Community Hospital

San Fernando Community Hospital Inc, a California non-profit public benefit corporation, has proposed the
sale of its Mission Community Hospital to Deanco Healthcare, LLC, a California for-profit Limited Liability Corporation.  The state Attorney General is required to review this transaction by the Corporations Code, sections 5914 and following.  The Attorney General has also retained consultants who have produced a Health Care Impact Report which will be considered at the hearing on August 26.

The terms of the proposed transaction are set out in a Notice to the Attorney General.  A copy of that notice is available for public inspection at the Administrative Office of Mission Community Hospital.
